Lost storyboard

Today we had another session on our Art Hurumanu. Today we learned about, how to do stop motion, puppetry and whiteboard stop motion. We learnt about the different camera angles and new names like 'Annotation' which in the storyboard. Small notes and basically a small note telling you what is happening.
So we worked in groups of four to create a storyboard. I worked with Emily, Maia, Lucy, Heaven and Jasmine. But before we did that we picked something out of the brainstorm that other people did.

Home chemistry 2.

Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.

Definition: Chromatography is a method of separating out materials from a mixture.
Eg. blood, ink, drugs,

Scenario
A crime has been committed. The police have a signed cheque and a letter from the same crime scene but it seems like the handwriting is different. They have 3 suspects but not enough evidence. They need to know if the letter and the cheque were written by the same person.

How do they tell if the pens used for both of these pieces of evidence are the same?

Rainbow paper

Materials;

1. Cup
2. Felt pens
3.Chromatography paper

Process:

Step 1: Get Chromatography paper and a cup
Step 2: Draw line with pencil 1cm from the edge
Step 3: Pick two colours (preferably dark)
Step 4: add water and watch

Conclusion: What have I learnt from this experiment?
I learnt that if you add felt to Chromatography paper with water it will go up. I also learnt that the colour will change colour as it goes. My group picked two colours green and dark blue. The dark blue turned purple then went blue. Then the green went green to blue. This was a really cool experiment and I want to do it again. But maybe in other colours. Maybe with lighter colours and see what happens.

Skittles

Aim: To separate colours from skittles by using the chromatography.

Materials;

1. skittles
2. petri dish
3. water

Process:

Step 1: get a petri dish
Step 2: get skittles
Step 3: put skittles in petri dish
Step 4: add water to petri dish and watch.

Conclusion: What have I learnt from this experiment?
That if you add water to skittles it will get the colours out of it. The skittles loses its colour and goes white. I learnt that skittles taste disgusting if they are wet. Also, the water is disgusting. It was really fun. I would want to do this again cause of the skittles.

Home chemistry 1.Introduction

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are a solid, liquid or a gas.

Definitions:

  1. Element; A single form of a chemical
  2. Compound: A mixture made up of 2 or more elements
  3. Reaction: A process in which chemicals mix together to form a new substance.
  4. Mixture: When two or more elements are mixed together.

Equipment:

 1) Salt

2)Lemon juice

3)Sugar

4)Vinegar

5)Lemonade bubbles

6)onion gas

7)Baking soda

8)Milk

9)Flour

10)Banana
Steps:

CONCLUSION: ( WHAT DID YOU LEARN OR SEE)

I learnt that salt I know the rules in a lab. I've learned that you have to listen so you know what to do. I learnt that salt is Sodium Chloride and it's solid. I've learned that a lot of products that I use at home are named a lot of other things. I also learnt that bananas are potassium. I also learnt really big names. I learnt that sodium chloride is solid. I also learnt that milk is magnesium hydroxide. I also learnt that onion is a gas. I also learnt that vinegar is acetic.

Add and subtract using place value

W.AL.T.Add and subtract using place value

For the past week, I have been learning how to add and subtract using place value, I didn't get it in the start but once I got the hang of it I could do it in a few seconds. This is a good strategy and I recommend it. The video isn't that good but hopefully, you will learn something from it.

Survival kit

For the past few weeks I have been reading a book called survival in the wild. I had three different things I could do for a DLO. Create a DLO  stating the top survival tips if you were to become stranded in the wild or Design a survival kit with the most important accessories needed to survive in the wild  (Pictures  & Labels) Created as a DLO and Write 'top tips' guide for future contestants of survivor series and then present this how you prefer as a DLO. I did the second one and here it is. I got some of the ideas off videos and books. Enjoy.

Duatholon

On the 30th of March we had a Duatholon. We could bring our scooter or bike to ride around the court. I ran the whole way. Next week we have cross country and I am going to jog at the start. Unlike what I did on Thursday I had to run around the court and field twice before I could finish. I came 5th. But out of all the people who were running the whole thing I came first. There where no pictures of me so take look of some of my friends.

Trip To Spencer Park

W.A.L.T Write an information report that informs the audience.

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….
  • I use an opening statement that explains the subject of the report.
  • The opening statement is followed by sentences that describe the event; what you saw, what you did, how you felt, what you learnt.
  • Each paragraph focuses on a different aspect of the topic; travelling, the beach, the lagoon walk, playground.
  • A general statement about the topic usually rounds off the report.

Trip to Spencer Park

Last week on Friday Ako Ngatahi went to Spencer Park, we went for a long walk we split into groups I was group 1e. There was about 150 people who went, we had an adventure on Friday, we went to the beach and we played on the playground.

I went to the lagoon walk first we saw all different birds there was a Tui. We stopped and had snack  there were horses there was a brown and white horse. We went up in the bird house I could see lots of birds and there were little huts in the lagoon.

Then my group went to the playground and South Hornby School. Was there and I saw some people who were in my netball team last year I went down the blue slide, and I went on the flying fox and climbed the red tower, it was so hot.

On the beach it was even hotter then the play ground the sand felt like fire we collect items I collected shells and some drift wood but we made a sand castle and I put all my items on it and then I left them.

Finally we went back to the playground and had lunch it was YUM! Then we had some fruit and we played and played and played until it was time to go. I went in Nature’s car with Lasa and Aisa and we listened to some music, then we got back to school. I was so tired.
