Home chemistry 2.

Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.

Definition: Chromatography is a method of separating out materials from a mixture.
Eg. blood, ink, drugs,

Scenario
A crime has been committed. The police have a signed cheque and a letter from the same crime scene but it seems like the handwriting is different. They have 3 suspects but not enough evidence. They need to know if the letter and the cheque were written by the same person.

How do they tell if the pens used for both of these pieces of evidence are the same?

Rainbow paper

Materials;

1. Cup
2. Felt pens
3.Chromatography paper

Process:

Step 1: Get Chromatography paper and a cup
Step 2: Draw line with pencil 1cm from the edge
Step 3: Pick two colours (preferably dark)
Step 4: add water and watch

Conclusion: What have I learnt from this experiment?
I learnt that if you add felt to Chromatography paper with water it will go up. I also learnt that the colour will change colour as it goes. My group picked two colours green and dark blue. The dark blue turned purple then went blue. Then the green went green to blue. This was a really cool experiment and I want to do it again. But maybe in other colours. Maybe with lighter colours and see what happens.

Skittles

Aim: To separate colours from skittles by using the chromatography.

Materials;

1. skittles
2. petri dish
3. water

Process:

Step 1: get a petri dish
Step 2: get skittles
Step 3: put skittles in petri dish
Step 4: add water to petri dish and watch.

Conclusion: What have I learnt from this experiment?
That if you add water to skittles it will get the colours out of it. The skittles loses its colour and goes white. I learnt that skittles taste disgusting if they are wet. Also, the water is disgusting. It was really fun. I would want to do this again cause of the skittles.

Home chemistry 1.Introduction

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are a solid, liquid or a gas.

Definitions:

  1. Element; A single form of a chemical
  2. Compound: A mixture made up of 2 or more elements
  3. Reaction: A process in which chemicals mix together to form a new substance.
  4. Mixture: When two or more elements are mixed together.

Equipment:

 1) Salt

2)Lemon juice

3)Sugar

4)Vinegar

5)Lemonade bubbles

6)onion gas

7)Baking soda

8)Milk

9)Flour

10)Banana
Steps:

1.aim
2.step
3.materials
4.conclusion

Repeat the steps for all the chemicals.

Task 1: Put the 10 chemicals in a chart with the titles - Name, Chemical ingredient(s), Image, Solid/Liquid/Gas.

CONCLUSION: ( WHAT DID YOU LEARN OR SEE)

I learnt that salt I know the rules in a lab. I've learned that you have to listen so you know what to do. I learnt that salt is Sodium Chloride and it's solid. I've learned that a lot of products that I use at home are named a lot of other things. I also learnt that bananas are potassium. I also learnt really big names. I learnt that sodium chloride is solid. I also learnt that milk is magnesium hydroxide. I also learnt that onion is a gas. I also learnt that vinegar is acetic.

Add and subtract using place value

W.AL.T.Add and subtract using place value

For the past week, I have been learning how to add and subtract using place value, I didn't get it in the start but once I got the hang of it I could do it in a few seconds. This is a good strategy and I recommend it. The video isn't that good but hopefully, you will learn something from it.

Animal abuse

For the past few weeks I have been in digital tech first we picked a social issue and I picked animal abuse cause I am passionate about it cause its sad how they get treated, and we need to stop this cause this is not what animals are made for to get hurt and killed by cruel humans. We had to make a game or a app and I chose to make an app Its was quiet challenging but I manage to complete it.  I hope you enjoy what I made it isn't much but have fun and click the link. My App

My own game

So in P.E I had to make my own game it could be based around another game I based mine around basketball. I created B-ball here is all the rules and information if you have the equipment you can play it with your friends.

Rules:

  • Only three players on court at all time.
  • If you pass the ball too another teammate who is outside the court and is not one of the three people playing on court they can pass the ball too you once you go further down the court but the person on the outside only gets fifteen seconds with the ball.
  • You can't shoot in the key unless its a layup.
  • Only one person can be in the key at all times unless someone is going for a layup.
  • The shot clock has a total of twenty-five seconds.
  • There is music playing once the music stops game is over.
  • HAVE FUN!

Objective of the game:
  • Score the most points before the music stops and try to stop the other team from getting points.
Also well there is only three players on court there has to be at least 8 in a team.

Scoring:
  • you score by shooting it into to the hoop and if it goes on its a point
  • A layup is worth 2 points and everything else is worth 3
Equipment:
  • you need 1 basketball
  • A court ( you can play half court or full court)
  • And 2 teams
